Title

The Evolution and Effectiveness of Malware Analysis Tools .

Abstract

Cyber threats are becoming ever more sophisticated and closer than ever in today's digitally-linked world. Some of the dangerous malware found today include viruses, ransomware, and spyware. Characteristically, this malware exposes the individual and the organization to serious threats. These threats are mitigated through analyzing malware using tools that detect its presence, understand its behavior, and work towards mitigating it. This paper highlights the evolution of malware analysis tools within the last 15 years, with special focus on static, dynamic, and hybrid methods of malware analysis. Furthermore, it addresses the methodologies involved in malware analysis, outlines the challenges of detection, and demonstrates real-life case studies showing such tools' effects. Other topics included are ethical and legal aspects, the role of artificial intelligence, and future trends in the analysis of malware.
