Title

STRATEGIC INTERVENTION MATERIALS AND PERFORMANCE OF STUDENTS IN COMPUTER SYSTEMS SERVICING

Abstract

This study determined the effect of strategic intervention materials on performance of students in Computer Systems Servicing, specifically Grade 7 students at Sipocot National High School, Division of Camarines Sur, School Year 2023-2024. The study utilized descriptive-quasi-experimental, research and development (R&D), ADDIE model, pretest-post-test design, and descriptive comparative-correlational methods of research. The respondents of the study involved sixty students who are Grade 7 Computer Systems Servicing students. A teacher-made test and an evaluation checklist rubric were utilized as data-gathering tools. Mean, Standard Deviation, Proficiency Level, Cohen’s D Effect, and T-test for Independent Sample were used to interpret the collected data. The findings revealed that the performance of the students did not meet expectations. The design of the strategic intervention material for Computer Systems Servicing was found to follow an appropriate design in terms of introduction, learning activities, learning assessments, learning enhancement, references, and answer keys. The validity of the developed strategic intervention materials was found to be highly valid in terms of sub-tasking, congruence, usability/functionality, and replicability. The performance level of the control group during pretest and after post-test remained at the developing level, while the experimental group started at the developing level, it improved to approaching proficiency level after post-test. Furthermore, the level of performance between the pretest and post-test of the two groups showed a significant difference. The strategic intervention materials showed a small effect. As an output, the researchers proposed an intervention material intended for remediation to address unmastered skills and concepts of students in CSS.
