Pain is a significant symptom and an early indicator of many diseases. It causes discomfort as it affects both the body and the mind. The International Association of Pain estimated that 1 in 5 patients experience some kind of pain, i.e. 30% of the total world population. The scenario in India is no different from the global picture. As the oldest known medical science, Ayurveda emphasized on the importance of management of pain with both pharmacological and non-pharmacological (Parasurgical) methods. Acute pain can be caused in different conditions like doing work, playing, etc. According to a survey, 7.13% of all sports injuries in athletes are low back injuries. The most common type of them are musculo-ligamentous strains (60%) and Disc injuries (7%). The repetitive flexion, extension and axial load type movements that athletes place on their low back lead to such kind of injuries. Early relief from pain and stiffness should be the main objective while treating such injuries.
