Title

HoneyCloud-A Honeypot Network Approach for Enhanced Security to the Cloud

Abstract

Cloud computing has become a cornerstone of modern digital infrastructure, yet its openness and scalability expose it to persistent cyber threats. HoneyCloud is an innovative honeypot-based security framework that enhances cloud protection by detecting and mitigating malicious activities. This framework deploys virtual honeypots mimicking legitimate services to lure attackers into isolated environments, enabling comprehensive monitoring and analysis of their behavior. The integration of advanced intrusion detection systems, real-time logging, and network segmentation ensures robust protection against unauthorized access and emerging threats. Experimental validations indicate HoneyCloud achieves a 70% reduction in breach attempts and significantly bolsters resilience against distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. Its cost-effectiveness and scalability make it an ideal solution for cloud providers of various scales. By transforming cloud security from reactive to preventive, HoneyCloud empowers organizations with actionable intelligence, ensuring the robust safeguarding of sensitive data and resources. This research highlights HoneyCloud’s potential to redefine cloud security paradigms and foster trust in cloud ecosystems.
