Title

Enhancing Cooling Tower Efficiency: A Review of Advanced Airflow and Heat Exchange Configurations

Abstract

Cooling towers play a pivotal role in industrial and HVAC systems by facilitating efficient heat dissipation through air-water interactions. Despite their widespread usage, conventional designs often face performance limitations, leading to suboptimal thermal effectiveness, increased energy consumption, and higher operational costs. This review investigates the advancements in cooling tower designs, focusing on multiple air inlets and enhanced air-water contact domains, aimed at improving performance. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques are extensively explored to understand airflow dynamics and heat exchange mechanisms. The paper synthesizes findings from recent studies, identifies research gaps, and proposes future directions for optimizing cooling tower configurations to meet modern sustainability standards.
