The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between screen device engagement and obesity among school students. A total of 100 students aged between 14 and 17 years from various schools in Coimbatore city were randomly selected as participants. Screen device engagement, including the use of smartphones, tablets, laptops, and computers, was assessed using a structured questionnaire, while obesity was measured using Body Mass Index (BMI) calculated as Weight (kg)/Height (m²). The collected data were statistically analyzed using Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation to determine the association between screen time and obesity levels. The findings revealed a significant positive correlation between screen device engagement and obesity among school students, indicating that higher durations of screen usage are associated with increased body mass index. The study emphasizes the importance of balancing screen-based activities with regular physical exercise to promote healthy growth and prevent obesity in adolescents.
