Title

SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS AND OCCUPATIONAL PATTERN OF TRIBAL WOMEN-THE NEED FOR PROMOTING ALLIED ACTIVITIES (A Study in Alluri Sitaramaraju District of Andhra Pradesh)

Abstract

Tribal women play a crucial role in the agriculture sector, significantly contributing to the growth of the tribal economy. However, they face numerous obstacles in achieving sustainable livelihoods and a satisfactory quality of life, largely due to their reliance on traditional agricultural practices. It is essential to promote the involvement of tribal women in economic development by encouraging their participation in allied activities, which could transform their occupational landscape and enhance their income-generating capabilities. In this regard, the present paper examines the occupational pattern of tribal women within the study areas, particularly concerning their socio-economic status to evaluate their potential for empowerment.
