Title

Developing a Card Game for School Children Inspired by Traditional Indian Art

Abstract

Game-Based Learning (GBL) emerges as a pivotal methodology in modern education, enhancing engagement, knowledge transfer, and peer competition among students. The National Education Policy (NEP) underscores the significance of Indian Knowledge Systems and the country's rich cultural heritage. This research bridges GBL with NEP objectives by revitalizing the conventional Memory Game with motifs from traditional Indian paintings like Gond, Madhubani, and Warli. . By infusing elements of Indian arts and crafts into education, the curriculum not only acquaints students with the nation's rich heritage but also cultivates a sense of pride and connection. India's diverse cultural tapestry, encompassing arts, crafts, literature, and heritage, provides a fertile ground for educational enrichment. By embracing these traditions in a playful manner, facilitated by GBL methodologies, the new generation stands to gain profound insights into their cultural legacy. The recent NEP echoes this sentiment, advocating for a curriculum that celebrates India's traditional knowledge systems. This paper elucidates strategies for seamlessly integrating Indian cultural heritage into the educational fabric, fostering holistic development and a deeper appreciation for the country's rich tapestry of arts, crafts, and cultural practices.
