Title

COMPARATIVE STUDY OF IMMEDIATE EFFECT OF TENDINOUS PRESSURE VERSUS MAINTAINED STRETCH IN ROODS INHIBITORY TECHNIQUES ON UPPER LIMB SPASTICITY IN PATIENTS WITH STROKE ’’

Abstract

Background: After a stroke, spasticity is frequently linked to discomfort, a lower quality of life, higher treatment costs, and a greater load on caregivers. By lessening spasticity, inhibition methods such as tendinous pressure can also help lower tone. In the tendinous pressure technique, an inhibitory effect is produced by applying manual pressure on the tendinous insertion of the long tendons. Nowadays, the most popular method for physically managing spasticity is stretching. Static stretching maintains the lowering of tone in the muscle being stretched while stretching spastic muscles to their maximum pain-free range. In order to lessen stiffness in stroke patients, this study compares the immediate effects of tendinous pressure technique with maintaining stretch.Methodology: Experimental study sample size: 18; pre-test two groups. There are nine patients in each group. A tertiary care hospital is the study's environment. Study period: The trial lasted for six months in total. Biceps brachii were subjected to TENDINOUS PRESSURE in group A, while group B received MAINTAINED STRETCH. MAS was taken both before and after the intervention. Analysis of the results within groups revealed a substantial improvement in the MAS score for both groups A and B. Analysis of the results between groups revealed a significantly higher MAS value for group A than for group B. Therefore, it may be concluded that the TENDINOUS PRESSURE method reduces spasticity in stroke patients more effectively than continuous stretch.
