Title

Academic Stress in Relation to Achievement Motivation of Secondary School Students

Abstract

This study determined the Academic Stress and Achievement Motivation Secondary School Students studying in UP Board and CBSE Board. Stress is a term that is often used to describe distress, fatigue, and the feeling of not being able to cope. These psychological variables have affected the academic performance of Secondary School Students and their educational ventures. Descriptive Research Method was used for the study. The data is collected using the Stratified Random Sampling Technique. A sample of 100 students (50 UP Board and 50 CBSE Board) were selected from Gorakhpur District. Secondary Schools were selected randomly from UP Board and CBSE Board. This study was conducted using a Survey Method. The Data was gathered through the Academic Stress Scale and Academic Achievement Motivation test. The Pearson- Product Moment Correlation Method was applied to find the relationship between Academic Stress and Achievement Motivation. The results indicate that there was a significant correlation between Academic Stress and Achievement Motivation of Secondary School Students with respect to their Board. The result revealed that Academic Stress is positively correlated with Achievement Motivation. Students studying in CBSE Board have higher Academic Stress and Achievement Motivation in comparision to students studying in UP Board.
