Title

“A Study of the Economic and Social Status of organic Farmers in Marathwada”

Abstract

Abstract: India is an Agricultural country. According to the 2011 census 65% of the population lives in rural areas and their main livelihood is agriculture. According to IFOAM in the year 2020, 74.9 million hectares of land was cultivated organically in 181 countries. India was first in the world in terms of organic producers in 2015, tenth in terms of organic agricultural area, and eleventh in organic product exports. In this study, six District have been considered namely osmanabad, Beed, Jalna, Aurangabad, Latur and Nanded based on the study conducted with organic farming system and have examined the difference in benefits of practicing organic farming and understanding the Economic viability of the farming. The main aim of this study is to determine the effect of organic farming on farmers income generation in chosen areas, analyses the investment patterns of farmers with regards income generation, understanding the effect of demographic variable on the kind of agriculture practiced in chosen areas and also to determine the effect of income and cost of living on farmer satisfaction. SPSS software is used to analyze the quantitative values and to interpret it. From the analysis it’s clearly understood that the farmers who practiced organic farming. Farmers have benefited more when compared to chemical farming, not only in terms of gaining profits but also have huge impact on protecting air, Soil and water. Organic farming in Marathwada has improved the economic and social conditions of farmers. So in this articles focus on organic farming, challenges of organic farming, Standard of living, economical condition of farmers etc.
