Title

Multi-stakeholder Governance in Democracy: A Comparative review of Citizen Participation in India and Yemen

Abstract

The emergence of ‘citizen participation/ Multi-stakeholder Governance’ came from the development discourse by the declaration of basic need approach by International Labour Organisations (ILO). Initially participation strategies were focused on human resource development and then widened the focus in national development. Development of the country is dependent on democracy, peace, stable government, participatory government and equality in policy cycle and decision making. Resonant rule of law, justice and strong law and order are preconditions for socio-economic development of a particular country. This study examines the citizen participation Multi-stakeholder participation which is dependent variable for Global governance, democracy and development. Furthermore, the countries (India and Yemen) are selected for the study as both countries are developing countries having heterogeneous cultural, geography, ethnicity, religious, ideological and political diversity. On the other hand, the impact of political crises, internal and external conflicts, civil war on the development and governance of Yemen is briefly analysed.
