Title

Optimization of Processing Parameters for SLM-Fabricated CuCrZr Alloy: Microstructural and Mechanical Property Analysis Using Response Surface Methodology

Abstract

Three-dimensional (3D) printing, particularly Selective Laser Melting (SLM), has emerged as a revolutionary manufacturing technology that offers unparalleled design flexibility and Rapid Prototyping capabilities. However, optimizing SLM parameters to enhance the quality and efficiency of printed parts remains a critical challenge. This paper presents a novel approach utilizing Response Surface Methodology (RSM) to optimise Selective laser-melted 3D printing processes. RSM facilitates systematically exploring process parameters such as laser power, scanning speed, and layer height to achieve optimal printing conditions. Through a series of experimental designs and statistical analyses, this study elucidates the intricate relationship between process parameters and printing outcomes, aiming to improve part quality, mechanical properties, and production efficiency for CuCrZr alloys. The application of RSM enables the identification of optimal process parameters that minimize defects, enhance surface finish, and ensure dimensional accuracy in SLM-based 3D printing. In the present work, we investigated the mechanical characteristics of the developed specimens and established a statistical correlation between them. These findings contribute to advancing the understanding of process optimization methodologies in additive manufacturing and pave the way for the widespread adoption of SLM across various industrial sectors.
