Title

Intelligent Red Signal Alert System for Trains Using Wireless Networks

Abstract

Human error and incompetence have been major contributors to train accidents in India. This paper aims to enhance railway safety by preventing train crashes and collisions using a wireless communication-based alerting system. The proposed device is designed to assist train drivers by eliminating the need for constant visual monitoring of red signal posts placed at predetermined intervals along the tracks. Traditionally, drivers rely on visual cues to decide whether to halt or proceed, which is both challenging and prone to error, particularly under adverse conditions. To address this issue, the project introduces a Wireless Red Signal Alerting System that provides real-time alerts directly to the driver’s cabin. This system ensures that drivers are informed well in advance of red signals or other potential hazards, allowing for timely action. The technology simplifies the responsibilities of train drivers and maintenance personnel by automating signal communication, reducing human dependency, and enhancing operational safety. While the system slows the train progressively, it also provides robust control to prevent collisions effectively. By integrating wireless communication into railway operations, this innovative solution addresses a critical safety gap, making train travel safer and more reliable. Train collisions and crashes in India are often attributed to human error and incompetence, making railway safety a critical concern. This project aims to prevent train collisions by employing wireless communication technology to assist train drivers. Traditionally, drivers rely on visual signals placed at intervals to determine whether to halt or proceed, which can be challenging and prone to oversight.
