Euphorbiacae family contains nearly about hundreds of genera and thousands of species which are generally flowering among st all of them ricinus communis or castor plant is the one having several medicinal properties. It includes properties like galactogauge, emmengogue, fertilizer, fungicidal, laxative, anti ulcer , antinoceceptive, immunomodulatory, anti-diabetic, anti-fertility , CNS stimulant, wound healing, lipolytic, carricidal, insecticidal and many others. On the other hand it mostly contains antioxidant anti aging anticancer,properties mostly this property is due to two important plant constituents like flavonoids, alkaloids, acids, steroids, glycosides etc. Considering this wider range of the phytochemicals and the activity shown by the ricinus communis the main focus of this review paper is to explain all the detailed pharmacological properties of ricinus communis for future research related to novel complementary drugs
