Herbo-mineral formulation are popularly used in clinical practice by physicians in India. Sudhavarga preparations are basically containing natural calcium. They can be given in GIT disorders, diseases of bone and joint and as a calcium supplementation. Among these Pravala pisti, Pravala Bhasma, Mukta pisti, Mukta Bhasma, Kapardika Bhasma, Shankha Bhasma, Godanti Bhasma, Kukkutanda twak Bhasma, Mukta shukti pisti, Mukta shukti Bhasma, kamadugha rasa, pravala panchamrita rasa and mukta panchamrita rasa are in general practise. Praval panchamrita rasa is usually given in the management of disorders like Amlapitta, Parinama shoola, Annadrava shoola, non-ulcer dyspepsia, hyper acidity syndrome, hypocalcemia, osteoporosis and osteo arthritis patients. It has the actions like pittahara, sheetavirya, shoolahara, dahahara, mastishka shamaka and calcium supplementation. The present paper highlights about the therapeutic uses of pravala panchamrita rasa in scientific and experimental view.
