ABSTRACT Background -Joint pain refers to the discomfort of the joints due to stiffness, degenerative diseases, inflammatory and trauma of the joint, tendons, ligaments and muscles (viz : wrist, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle ) Materials and Methods-True –experimental (pre- test post -test control group) study was undertaken among old age clients with joint pain. 40 subjects were selected by random sampling technique. The experimental group (n=20) received hot therapy application for 20 minutes over the painful joint areas, whereas the control group (n=20) received no intervention for pain management. The tool used for assessing the pain score is Numeric Pain Rating scale. Results-The findings showed that majority (i.e. 70%) of the old age clients in the experimental groups after giving hot therapy application have no joint pain. Conclusion-The study reveals that there was effectiveness of hot therapy application among old age clients with joint pain.
