In Ayurvedic treatment, Snehana (oil therapy) is essential, and it can be administered in two ways: as Pradhana Karma (primary treatment) or Poorvakarma (preparatory treatment). Brumhana Snehapana (nourishing oil therapy) can be given orally or nasally and is particularly effective for Vata-related conditions. The study focuses on comparing two procedures—Nasya (nasal administration of medicated oil) and Uttarabhaktika Snehapana (oral intake of medicated oil)—both of which are beneficial for treating Urdhvajatrugata Vyadhi like Avabahuka (frozen shoulder). While contemporary treatments for frozen shoulder, like NSAIDs and corticosteroids, provide symptomatic relief, Ayurveda offers these two specific oil-based therapies, Nasya and Uttarabhaktika Snehapana, to strengthen and balance the shoulder area, addressing the root cause of Vata imbalances. The study aims to compare the effectiveness of both treatments using Hruswapanchamula Taila, which is indicated for Vata and Kapha disorders.
