Title

“A STUDY TO ASSESS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PLANNED TEACHING PROGRAMME ON KNOWLEDGE REGARDING STRESS MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES AMONG ADOLESCENTS STUDYING IN SELECTED COLLEGES OF AHMEDABAD CITY.”

Abstract

Study: A study to evaluate the effectiveness of a planned teaching programme regarding stress management techniques among adolescents studying in selected colleges of Ahmedabad city. Background: Undergraduate students face high stress due to academics, social life, and personal responsibilities, while they may know stress management techniques like exercise, meditation, and time management, many struggle to apply them effectively. Limited awareness and institutional support contribute to this gap. Research highlights the need for better education and university programs to enhance stress management skills and overall well-being. Objective: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a structured teaching programme regarding stress management techniques among adolescents and to find the association between selected demographic variables with the pre-test knowledge score. Methods: A pre-experimental (one group pre-test post-test) design was adopted for collecting the data from 40 sample using structured knowledge questionnaire comprising 30 question which include knowledge, application and comprehensive domains. Result: According to the findings, the mean post-test knowledge score was significantly higher than the mean pre-test knowledge score with a mean difference of 6.67. The calculated ‘t’ value (6.907) was greater than the tabulated `t` value 2.02 at 0.05 level of significance. Therefore, null hypothesis Ho was rejected and research hypothesisH1, was accepted and it revealed that the planned teaching program was effective in increasing the knowledge among adolescent. The finding also revealed that education has a significant association with pre-test knowledge score. Hence, the research hypothesis (H2) was accepted Conclusion: Planned teaching programme regarding stress management techniques was effective in improving knowledge among adolescent in selected colleges of Ahmedabad city. The finding clearly indicates that there is greater need of awareness regarding stress management techniques, so that they can be more alert about the stress in their daily life and can adapt healthy coping strategies during stress producing situation
