The interplay of knowledge, ignorance and survival is one of the recurring patterns observed in most of the science fiction novels. The characters’ journey across universes in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series by Douglas Noel Adams, where versatile intelligence and absurdity thrive and coexists, kindles a question whether ignorance is a key to blissful living or a complex and chaotic path to survival in a technology dominated world. Adams satirizes these dynamics of survival through his human and non-human characters and reviews the purpose of knowledge in an era that is utterly embraced by digital and technological mayhem. The paper examines the characters’ approach to multiple intelligences encountered in the intergalactic cruise and their emotional cognizance at the circumstances of to live or to let go. The study also assesses the impact of modern human society’s relationship with technology and its access to implausible information with particular reference to Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s novels.
