Startups constitute a pivotal component of global business landscapes, significantly contributing to job creation and economic expansion worldwide. They are integral to economic development due to their role in generating employment opportunities. Given the importance of startups, it is imperative to comprehend their contribution to economic growth. This study aims to investigate the role of startups and the challenges they face in India. The research methodology employed involves a comprehensive analysis of existing literature on startups and their relevance to the Indian economy. The objective of the study is to assess the current state of startups in India, the obstacles they encounter, and the governmental initiatives designed to support them. The research elucidates various challenges faced by startups, including insufficient funding, difficulties in securing financing, inadequate infrastructure, outdated technology, and ineffective marketing strategies. Additionally, the study examines the various schemes implemented by the Government of India to promote and encourage startups
