The new technologies and wide access to the internet, digital banking in India has gone trough several changes. Programs launched by the government like Digital India and UPI have aided the acceptance of digital banking across different users. With these changes, digital banking is now convenient, efficient and inclusive but there are equally pricking challenges in the sector, like cybersecurity threats, data privacy issues, and digital illiteracy. There is a need to bridge the rural-urban digital divide to allow for inclusive growth. AI, Blockchain and mobile-first are the matrices through which neobanks and fintech’s are interacting with clients. The article focuses on emerging trends, innovations and the regulatory environment that have an impact on the rise of digital banking in India, as well as some fundamental challenges that must be surmount for sustainable growth.
