Title

An Approach for Enhancing Statement Coverage through Test Case Prioritization Technique

Abstract

Software indeed plays a crucial and ever-expanding role in modern society. Its impact is pervasive and can be observed across various aspects of our daily lives, industries, and institutions. The increasing utility of software platforms in society, driven by digitalization, is indeed a significant and ongoing trend. There are various types of testing, including unit testing, integration testing, system testing, acceptance testing, and more, each serving a specific purpose within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The choice of testing methods and strategies in software development depends on several factors, including the project's requirements, goals, and the specific stage of the SDLC. Testing is a crucial phase in the SDLC, and it aims to ensure that the software meets its intended purpose and functions correctly. The perspective on a software product as either similar or dissimilar can indeed be influenced by various factors, including utility and design specifications. Depending on the skill level and the availability of test environment the test pattern for the system will be finalize. While conducting the wide-ranging testing of any software product, in SDLF all probable and substitute amalgamation of the variable is measured and the resource constraints are being applied based on the derived amalgamation. In any SDLF the testing phases, where the testing team or any individual tester of the software product hold the accountability of formulate a test plan considering all amalgamation of input variable set and divided into test cases need to be achieved for the functionality of the product utilities. Validations of test cases are indeed an essential part of the software development process. They serve multiple purposes, including checking the degree of robustness and ensuring the sustainability of the software when deployed. Properly prioritizing test cases is a crucial aspect of effective software testing. Test case prioritization helps ensure that the most critical and high-impact issues are identified and addressed early in the testing cycle, allowing for better overall results. In our proposed work based on the statement-coverage criterion method to state the prioritization of the entire test cases under consideration we deploy an effective and unique technique of test prioritization. Based on the perception above the experimental work has been accomplishes and shows a better and effectiveness of process to deploy in the testing phase is a cost-effective solution. This will help towards the optimization of cost and time in the testing phase of SDLF.
