Title

Improving Production Efficiency: Strategic Location Analysis & Selection Integrated with MOST - A Study in Industrial Motor Manufacturing.

Abstract

This study presents a comprehensive strategy to improve production efficiency in the manufacturing of small frame size industrial motors (frames 25, 28, and 31) through Strategic Location Analysis & Selection integrated with the Maynard Operation Sequence Technique (MOST). The project proposes the establishment of a dedicated winding facility to eliminate production bottlenecks arising from space and capacity constraints due to the growing focus on large frame motors in the existing setup. By prioritizing optimal facility location, followed by reconfiguration using MOST, the study enhances decision-making related to plant placement and operational efficiency. Further integration of ergonomic layout design and lean manufacturing principles supports measurable improvements in cycle time, manpower utilization, quality control, and cost-effectiveness. The results demonstrate a 25%–30% increase in production capacity, a 12.5% reduction in process time, and up to 20% savings in labor costs—underscoring the combined impact of strategic facility planning and standardized motion analysis in internalizing critical motor manufacturing processes.
