Title

Experimental Framework for Real-Time Automated Parking Slot Detection and Display

Abstract

This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of IoT-based smart parking systems, designed to address parking issues in urban cities across various parts of India. Traditionally, parking methods have led to traffic congestion and inefficient management. To combat these challenges, smart parking systems have been introduced, utilizing advanced technologies such as infrared sensors, Arduino microcontrollers, and proximity sensors for vehicle detection. A significant enhancement to these systems is the integration of the Node MCU ESP8266 WiFi module, which provides reliable wireless connectivity and supports efficient data transmission between devices. This enables real-time monitoring, seamless communication between sensors and servers, and better scalability of the system. The Node MCU ESP8266's WiFi capabilities also support integration with mobile applications, allowing user-friendly features like remote booking and slot status updates. A case study on the Real-Time Automated Parking Detection and Reservation System highlights its success in malls and establishments, enabling drivers to reserve spots via a mobile web application. The paper compares different smart parking techniques, emphasizing their potential to improve urban parking management, reduce congestion, and support the development of smart cities.
