Title

Technological and Scientific Dimensions of Self-Reliant Vision for India

Authors

Abstract

India's rapid rise in technology awareness and industrial capability has undoubtedly led to a heightened consciousness around the importance of indigenous innovation, manufacturing excellence, and global competitiveness. However, to evolve from slogans like ‘Make in India’ to a robust ‘Made in India’ ecosystem, there must be meaningful value addition to technology and infrastructure that supports its development and sustainability. The achievement of Atmanirbharta in India is a complex problem. Over the past few years of Atmanirbharta and ‘Make in India’ drive, the consciousness for self-reliance has increased manifold. Atmanirbharta and ‘Make in India’ must be transformed to ‘Made in India’ and lead to meaningful value addition to the technology. It includes technological strategy, revamping of the manufacturing sector as well as life cycle sustenance support systems like the services sector, road-rail infrastructure development, and industrial corridor infrastructure, effective policies for ease of doing business, exports, political will, and deep financial pockets. This paper discusses the critical science and technological enablers that can drive India toward sustainable self-reliance, framed within an ecosystem that combines political will, industry capability, academic research, and a shared national vision.
