Title

Isolation and Evaluate Clitoria ternatea for its Antimicrobial Activity

Abstract

Clitoria ternatea, a plant celebrated for its medicinal qualities, has attracted interest due to its possible antimicrobial properties. This research aims to isolate and assess the antimicrobial activity of the flower extract from Clitoria ternatea. The flowers were collected, dried, and extracted with solvents of different polarities to obtain various extracts. The antimicrobial effectiveness of these extracts was tested against several pathogenic microorganisms, including both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as fungi, utilizing the disc diffusion method and the determination of the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). The findings demonstrated that the flower extract showed notable antimicrobial activity, especially against, Escherichia coli, Phytochemical assessments revealed the presence of bioactive compounds like flavonoids, alkaloids, and glycosides, terpenoid which may play a role in the antimicrobial effects observed. These results provide support for the traditional application of Clitoria ternatea flowers in treating infections and imply that its flower extract could serve as a potential source of new antimicrobial agents. Additional research is needed to isolate and characterize the active compounds responsible for these effects and to investigate their therapeutic potential.
