In this digital age, libraries are undergoing a major transition. Once defined by dusty old shelves and hush-hush reading halls, libraries are evolving now into fast-paced, technology-savvy environments trying to comply with the ever-changing demands of users—students in particular. The dawn of smartphones, tablets, and mobile devices has aroused the changing expectations of library users with a huge leap. Students of today expect an immediate response to their information needs and in turn require the freedom to learn and interact with their academic material from virtually any location. The changing needs have caused academic and public libraries in every corner of the world to increasingly offer mobile-based services within the garniture of their operation and boost the traditional library image to a "library on the go."
