A Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) is a special application of Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET). Privacy and Security is the main concern in VANETs. The vehicle and its driver both want their contextual information, likethe driver’s identity and vehicle’s location information is private so that nobody can get their personal information. So, there are two perspectives of Privacy one is identity, that means vehicles preserve their identity from outsiders, and another one is location information that means vehicles do not want to share their location information to outsiders so that the adversary can’t get the vehicles' travel route. For the privacy of vehicles, Vehicle should interact anonymously so that no malicious vehicle is able to get the contextual information of the authorized vehicle. Anonymously interaction secures the vehicles contextual information. The report consists of the approach used for identity preservation in vehicle-to vehicle communication which has security goal of user privacy and mutual authentication between the vehicles which participate in the communication.
