This research presents the development of a cost-effective, IoT-based smart energy metering system integrated with anti-theft capabilities and prepaid billing features. The system offers real-time energy consumption monitoring and remote data access through a mobile application using the Blynk platform. Key components include an ATmega8A microcontroller and an ESP32 Wi-Fi module for wireless communication. The design incorporates mechanisms to detect unusual consumption patterns, send instant alerts, and disconnect power in response to unauthorized usage or zero balance. Targeted at residential and semi-urban areas, the system improves energy management, encourages responsible usage, and deters electricity theft.
