Title

A REVIEW ON DYNAMIC ANALYSIS AND LIGHTWEIGHT STRUCTURAL DESIGN OF AN URBAN FOOT OVER BRIDGE

Abstract

Urban foot over bridges (FOBs) play a critical role in enhancing pedestrian safety and ensuring smooth traffic flow in densely populated cities. With the increasing urban load and demand for sustainable infrastructure, there is a growing need to design efficient, lightweight, and dynamically stable structures. This project focuses on the dynamic analysis and lightweight structural design of a modern urban foot over bridge, aimed at minimizing material usage while ensuring structural safety and serviceability under pedestrian-induced loads and environmental forces. Using advanced computational tools such as STAAD PRO, this study performs modal analysis, time-history analysis, and response spectrum analysis to evaluate the dynamic behavior of various structural configurations. Special attention is given to vibration control, damping efficiency, and optimization of structural elements. Lightweight yet high-strength materials like structural steel, composite decking, and advanced connections are incorporated to achieve an optimal balance between durability, economy, and aesthetics.
