Title

An Assessment Of Meal Skipping Patterns And Their Nutritional Impact On College Students (18-25 AGE GROUP)

Abstract

Meal skipping, particularly among college students aged 18–25, is a growing concern due to its impact on dietary patterns and overall health. This study assessed the prevalence, causes, and health outcomes associated with meal skipping in a sample of 100 college students using a structured online survey. The findings revealed that 63.6% of students skipped meals, with breakfast being the most commonly omitted. Lack of time was the primary reason cited, followed by lack of appetite and dieting purposes. While a majority did not intentionally skip meals to lose weight, many reported compensatory eating and irregular snacking behavior. Health issues such as headaches, fatigue, and poor concentration were commonly reported among those who skipped meals. The results highlight the need for nutritional education and lifestyle adjustments to support healthier eating habits during this critical developmental phase.
