The paper deals with the various aspects of Artificial Intelligence (AI). A brief concept of AI has been highlighted upon. The different branches of AI like Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning, Speech Recognition, Pattern Recognition and Deep Learning have been discussed. The different areas of application of AI in libraries, such as, Information Retrieval, Automated Library Management, Personalized Resource Recommendation and Research Assistance, Deep Learning, Preserving Cultural Heritage and Interactive User Service have been dealt with. The different advantages and challenges of the application of AI in the libraries have been explained.
