The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is a transformative framework designed to make India's education system more inclusive, flexible, and multidisciplinary. A key focus of the policy is multiculturalism, which promotes linguistic diversity, cultural awareness, and the integration of indigenous and regional knowledge systems. This article explores the role of NEP 2020 in fostering multicultural education by emphasizing multilingual instruction, culturally responsive pedagogy, and equitable learning opportunities. It highlights the contributions of teachers, policymakers, and educational institutions in creating an inclusive and globally competitive education system. The article also examines challenges in implementing multicultural education, including resistance to change, balancing national and regional identities, and the need for teacher training and curriculum reform. It provides recommendations for overcoming these barriers through policy measures, stakeholder collaboration, and innovative educational strategies. By adopting a multicultural approach, NEP 2020 aims to build a more equitable, culturally rich, and globally aware education system that prepares students for an interconnected world.
