The present study focuses on the formulation and evaluation of a herbal wound healing gel incorporating Tridax procumbens extract, a medicinal plant known for its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. The extract was obtained through ethanol maceration of dried leaves and incorporated into a Carbopol 940-based gel. The formulation was assessed for physicochemical parameters including pH, viscosity, spreadability, and homogeneity. Antimicrobial activity was tested using the agar well diffusion method against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, and in vivo wound healing efficacy was evaluated using an excision wound model in Wistar rats. Among various concentrations tested, the 2% extract formulation showed optimal wound contraction (up to 90% by day 14), significant antimicrobial activity, and enhanced epithelialization compared to the control. The results support the traditional use of T. procumbens in wound care and highlight its potential as a cost-effective, natural alternative to conventional wound healing agents.
