Title

Design and analysis of wireless battery charger using seris-series configuration

Abstract

Wireless power transfer (WPT) has come as a convenient solution to wired charging, especially where ease of use, safety, and design flexibility are important requirements. Among several WPT methods, the Series-Series (SS) resonant topology is receiving increased attention due to its efficiency in retaining effective power transfer despite coil misalignment, along with its ability to provide high voltage gain. As the popularity of low-size,low-maintenance charging mechanisms keeps rising, WPT solutions are becoming a major aspect of portable and embedded electronics. In this dissertation, the design and development of a wireless battery charger using SS resonance is explored in detail with primary considerations in aspects like resonance tuning, power conversion, and dealing with misalignments. Care is taken in ensuring system efficiency and stability under practical operating conditions. It also examines ways in which such systems can be tailored for future embedded applications as power electronics and control strategies develop.
