Title

One-Pot multicomponent synthesis and biological properties of benzimidazole based derivatives using PANI-ZrO₂

Abstract

Abstract: A novel and efficient protocol for the one-pot multicomponent synthesis of benzimidazole-based derivatives was developed using a Polyaniline-Zirconium oxide (PANI-ZrO₂) Nano composite as a heterogeneous catalyst. The nano-composite was synthesized via in situ oxidative polymerization. The catalytic system exhibited excellent activity under mild conditions, offering high yields and short reaction times. Furthermore, the synthesized benzimidazole derivatives were evaluated for antibacterial and antifungal properties, demonstrating promising biological activities. This green and sustainable approach highlights the potential of PANI-ZrO₂ as a robust catalyst for bioactive heterocyclic synthesis.
