Title

EFFECTIVE USE OF SMARTPHONES WITH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

Abstract

This study investigates the effective integration of smartphones with Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education institutions, with a focus on student awareness, factors influencing adoption, and usage patterns in Tamil Nadu. With the growing reliance on smartphones for communication, academic tasks, and social interaction, the research explores the role of AI-powered smartphones as educational tools that enhance learning experiences. Data was collected from 385 students across various colleges and universities through a structured questionnaire, employing both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The study examines how AI-enabled features, such as smart assistants, personalized learning apps, and AI-driven content recommendations, influence students' academic behavior, social engagement, and overall learning outcomes. The findings reveal that AI-driven smartphone use contributes positively to student engagement, academic performance, and access to digital resources. However, challenges such as dependency on technology, distractions, and potential negative impacts on mental well-being were also identified. The study emphasizes the need for a balanced and mindful approach to smartphone use in education, advocating for the strategic incorporation of AI to maximize educational benefits while mitigating associated risks. These findings provide valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and technology developers in optimizing the use of smartphones in academic environments.
