This study plays a crucial role in enhancing student well-being, fostering social interaction, and improving academic performance. This study explores the significance of these spaces by analyzing case studies of traditional universities such as Oxford and Harvard, alongside modern institutions like Stanford and MIT. The research examines the planning, integration, and multifunctionality of recreational areas, addressing challenges such as land constraints and budget limitations while proposing sustainable, adaptive design strategies. The findings emphasize that well-planned recreational spaces contribute to the holistic development of students by promoting mental and physical well-being, encouraging community engagement, and supporting sustainability. The study highlights the role of green infrastructure, energy-efficient designs, and innovative spatial planning in shaping campus environments that align with evolving educational and urban needs. By implementing evidence-based design principles and biophilic planning strategies, universities can create dynamic, inclusive, and future-ready recreational environments that enhance both ecological sustainability and student experiences.
