Title

Assessment of factors affecting kidney transplant patients' morbidity and graft survival

Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate and assess the results and variables that influence graft and patient survival in kidney transplant recipients at medical facilities in Bihar. Method: Both primary and secondary data are used in this study. Data obtainable from the dialysis facilities. Information from patients using dialysis canters was gathered in order to evaluate the beneficiaries' viewpoint and level of satisfaction with the services. A total of 120 kidney patients from the Patna, Darbhanga, Banka, Nalanda, Gaya and Samastipur districts of Bihar were questioned after their informed consent was obtained. The Program Coordinator in charge of the canters, the Medical Superintendent/Medical Officer in charge of the dialysis unit, the Dialysis Technician, and the donated Staff Nurse were all interviewed in-depth to better understand the difficulties in implementing the program. Results: Data from 120 kidney transplant recipients was gathered for this study. In Bihar, dialysis patients' kidney illnesses lasted an average of 4.2 years. The most common symptoms reported by the patients were facial swelling (44%), vomiting (65%), and limb swelling (67.5%). Before receiving a diagnosis, around 80% of the patients had a consultation. The patients were 46.3±12.1 years old on average. There were 101 male patients and 19 female patients. Nine patients experienced graft loss. Conclusion: Because kidney transplantation is one of the therapy alternatives, the doctors advised the majority of patients to undergo the procedure. However, the majority of patients were unable to receive a kidney transplant due to a lack of an acceptable donor or financial constraints.
