Title

Modified decomposition solution of convex fins with all power law dependent thermal properties

Abstract

The present study focuses on the investigation of a nonlinear mathematical model describing heat transfer in convex fins, where all thermophysical properties are assumed to follow a power-law dependency. The geometry of the fins is such that their extended length varies parabolically along the axial direction, characterized by a power exponent of ½. To obtain analytical solutions, the resulting singular differential equations are addressed using the Modified Adomian Decomposition Method (MADM), which is well-suited for handling nonlinearities in complex systems. The study further explores the influence of key power-law-dependent parameters—namely, thermal conductivity, surface emissivity, and internal heat generation—on the temperature distribution within the fins. These effects are analyzed individually to understand their distinct roles in thermal performance and are compared to highlight the sensitivity of the system to each parameter.
