This paper discusses the design and development of an intelligent bus system that improves safety, automation, and monitoring of public transport using the integration of various technologies. The system incorporates an RFID-based automatic ticketing module that provides contactless and seamless fare collection, minimizing boarding time and human error. For passenger safety, there is an accident detection system in place with an accelerometer coupled with GPS and GSM modules to detect impacts, monitor the real-time location of the bus, and provide emergency notifications via SMS. There is also a fire detection system based on the MQ2 gas sensor to detect smoke or harmful gases within the bus, sounding warnings and notifications if lethal levels are present. All the components are controlled by a single central microcontroller, which handles data processing and system response coordination. This intelligent bus prototype illustrates an end-to-end, low-cost solution for enhancing the efficiency, safety, and reliability of public transit, and is a scalable model for future smart transit systems.
