Leadership Support of School Managers and Performance of the Teachers

Abstract
This study determined the influence of leadership supports of school managers on teachers’ performance in San Fernando District, Division of Camarines Sur School Year 2022-2023. To realize this, the following were looked into: (1) the level of leadership support of school managers along the different key result areas; (2) performance rating of teachers based from the Individual Performance and Review Form in San Fernando District; (3) significant relationship between leadership support of school managers’ and performance of teachers; (4) extent of influence of leadership support of school managers on the teachers’ performance; and (5) intervention programs that maybe formulated to enhance leadership support and teachers’ performance.
This study utilized a descriptive-correlational methods. The respondents were 19 school managers and 121 elementary school teachers. Data gathering tools used were questionnaire and documentary analysis. Statistical tools employed were mode, percentage distribution, weighted mean, Pearson’s Product Moment Coefficient of Correlation and Coefficient of Determination.
The findings of the study were: (1) the level of leadership support of school managers along the different Key Result Areas revealed an overall weighted mean of 4.70 in all school categories; (2) the performance rating of teachers in IPCRF for School Year 2022-2023 in San Fernando District showed that, 32 or 26% of the teachers were rated above mode 16 or 13% of teachers were rated within the mode while 73 or 60% of teachers were rated below mode; (3) the relationship be leadership support of school managers and teachers’ performance in all school categories in each KRA’s were; the total r-value -0.82, -0.96, -0.82, -0.92 and -0. 64 and all have the same critical value of 0.997; (4) the extent of influence of leadership support of school managers on the teachers’ performance of all school categories in different KRA’s were r-value and critical value of (-0.82, 67), (-0.96, 92) , -0.82, 67), -0.92, 85), and (-0.64, 41); and (5) the intervention programs of leadership support of school managers to improve teachers’ performance along the different KRA’s. The project proposal was crafted that entails the different activities, strategies and methodologies from pre-implementation, during implementation and post implementation to address the weaknesses of teachers or low performance reflected in the IPCRF.
This study concluded that: (1) the level of leadership support of school managers to teachers performance are always practiced along with the Individual Performance and Commitment Review Form in different Key Result Areas indicators; (2) the performance rating of teachers in San Fernando District School Year 2022-2023 out of 121 teachers, 111 of them were outstanding and 10 of them were very satisfactory; (3) the relationship between leadership support of school managers and teachers along the different Key Result Areas were not significant; (4) a) the extent of influence of leadership support of school managers on the teachers’ performance along the different KRA’s varies according to the areas where; content knowledge and pedagogy and curriculum and planning were moderately, diversity of learners was very strong and assessment and reporting was strong, while personal growth and professional development was weak; and (5) the intervention programs of leadership support of school managers helped teachers to address teachers weaknesses along the indicators reflected in Individual Performance and Commitment Review Form upon the rating period.
