Title

Computer-Aided Instruction (CAI) and Learning Competencies in Physical Education

Abstract

The study determined the effect of the use of Computer-Aided Instruction on the level of proficiency in the learning competencies in Physical Education among Grade 9 students of Don Servillano Platon Memorial National High School in Tinambac District, Division of Camarines Sur, School Year 2023-2024. This study employed research and development and descriptive-comparative methods of research. The respondents were 158 students from Tinambac, Camarines Sur. The data gathered were statistically treated using standard deviation, mean, Proficiency Level, weighted mean, t-test for dependent samples and Cohen’s D. Results revealed that the status of the Grade 9 students in Physical Education learning competencies was described as DNME or Did Not Meet Expectations. The designed computer-aided instruction effectively addressed the identified learning competencies and objectives for PE and provided content, activities, and assessments. The level of curricular validity of Computer-Aided Instruction as assessed by the experts was perceived to be very highly valid in terms of face, content, and construct. The level of proficiency of the respondents after the use of CAI was described to be satisfactory. It was found that there was a significant difference between the learning competencies before and after the implementation of CAI, and it has a Large Effect in enhancing the learning competencies in physical education of Grade 9 students.
