Title

Identification and Classification of the Water Resources of Bhadohi (S.R.N.) District of Uttar Pradesh and Spectrophotometric Assessment of Concentration of Cadmium, Lead, and Zinc

Abstract

Water is an important resource for the human life and civilization as it is being utilized for several purposes like drinking, domestic work, industries etc. water also the basic need for the life and supports the existing life and biodiversity. Water may present in the several sources like surface and ground water, water in air as vapor etc. major surface water sources includes rivers, ponds, lakes, streams, oceans, seas, glaciers, ice caps etc. while the ground water is the water which reside below the surface in the form of aquifers. Water resources are being polluting due to contamination by the industrial and municipal waste water which changes the physic-chemical and biological properties of water in the extent that it can’t be use or can’t support the life and activities of animals, plant, microbes and humans. Pollutant may be organic or inorganic. Metallic pollutant are major inorganic pollutant specially the heavy metals like Hg, Cd, Cr, Ni, As, Pb etc.; which mostly utilized in industries for several purposes. Present work includes the identification and classification of the water resources of Bhadohi (Now named as Sant Ravidas Nagar or S.R.N.) district of Uttar Pradesh and spectrophotometric assessment of concentration of Cd, Pb and Zn in these water resources to develop a wide understanding of the levels of heavy metal throughout the district.
