This paper explores the application of sustainable engineering principles in the design and development of a solar-powered Sea Oil Skimmer aimed at mitigating marine oil pollution. The system uses a disc-type skimmer powered by solar energy to efficiently recover oil from the water surface, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and minimizing ecological disruption. Prototype testing demonstrated an oil recovery rate of 75–80% and 6 hours of energy autonomy, with a material cost lower than conventional skimmers. Drawing from our academic project and relevant literature, we assess the feasibility, design methodology, performance evaluation, and the broader environmental impact of integrating renewable energy and automation in marine cleanup technology.
