In many rural and semi-urban areas, timely access to essential over-the-counter (OTC) medicines remains a challenge due to the limited availability of pharmacies and restricted service hours. To address this issue, this project proposes the development of an Automated Medicine Dispensing Machine (AMDM)—a self-service system designed to dispense commonly used OTC medicines to the public without the need for a pharmacist. The machine operates similarly to an ATM, allowing users to interact through a simple interface to select and purchase medicines. The system is built using microcontrollers and electromechanical components that automate the dispensing process. It supports basic payment mechanisms and ensures secure and efficient delivery of medicines. This solution aims to enhance accessibility, reduce wait times, and provide 24/7 availability of essential drugs in locations where conventional medical facilities may be lacking. The proposed machine offers a cost-effective and user-friendly approach to improving public access to healthcare essentials.
