Title

A Modified E-Shaped Array Microstrip Patch Antenna for C Band Satellite Applications

Abstract

This paper proposes a modified E-shaped microstrip patch antenna tailored for C-band satellite communication applications. Microstrip patch antennas are valued for their lightweight design, compact size, and easy integration, though they typically struggle with limited bandwidth and lower gain. To overcome these challenges, the traditional E-shaped structure is enhanced by introducing extra slots and optimizing key dimensions. These modifications lead to significant improvements in impedance bandwidth and radiation efficiency. The developed antenna operates efficiently within the C-band frequency range (4– 8 GHz), delivering better return loss, higher gain, and consistent directional radiation patterns. Simulation results verify the antenna's effectiveness for satellite communication, providing a high-performance, low-profile solution. Additionally, the antenna design is cost-effective and simple to fabricate, making it ideal for modern satellite systems.
