The present study aims to formulate and evaluate a poly herbal gel including Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) and Neem (Azadirachta indica) extracts for the treatment of Acne. Both herbs are well-known for their potent anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties which are beneficial in managing and improving skin health. Acne is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that affects many adolescents. Herbal medicine offers a natural, effective and safe alternative to synthetic drugs. Hydroalcoholic extracts of neem and lemongrass were prepared and different concentrations of lemongrass extract was used to prepare formulations F1, F2, F3, F4 by incorporating Carbopol in different concentrations as gelling agent. The formulations were evaluated for various physico-chemical parameters including appearance, pH, viscosity, spread ability, stability and anti-microbial activity against acne causing bacteria such as staphylococcus aureus using the agar diffusion method. Among all the formulations F4 exhibited acceptable physical characteristics with good spreadability and pH suitable for topical application. This study concludes the safe, effective use of herbal plants an alternative to conventional acne therapies.
