Title

A study on Replicating Google’s “PROJECT OXYGEN” in the Healthcare Industry: An HR Analytics Perspective

Abstract

This study aims to replicate the core principles of Google’s “PROJECT OXYGEN” in a different industry context – specifically, the healthcare sector – by leveraging the power of People Analytics. While Project Oxygen focused on identifying the attributes of effective managers within Google, this research begins by analyzing employee attrition patterns to understand organization dynamics and the potential managerial factors influencing employee retention. Using employee data from a corporate HR environment, the research applies a combination of exploratory data analysis (EDA), logistic regression, and random forest modeling to uncover key drivers of attrition – such as overtime, monthly income, and tenure with the current manager. The findings highlight that longer relationships with managers tend to reduce attrition, reinforcing the importance of supportive leadership and employee engagement. The study demonstrates a transferable analytical framework that can be applied to healthcare or other people-intensive industries to guide HR decisions and leadership development. It emphasizes how data-driven insights can help organizations identify not only retention risks but also the managerial traits most aligned with sustainable, high-performing teams.
